Training - Skills Development Workshop

As a service to our members we have arranged skills development workshops at Westville and at each of our divisions during the month of February.

Tracy Thomas of M-Powerment Consulting Services is a skills development facilitator who has worked for the CETA and is very knowledgeable of the Skills Development Act and all the benefits and obligations associated with it. The workshop will cover the following:

Chantal Baeza is the Kwazulu Natal Regional manger of Triple E Training who have been awarded a contract by CETA to role out ABET in KZN.
  • Overview of skills development legislation and why the skills development levy was implemented
  • Who is eligible to pay skills development levies
  • Where do the levies go
  • What are the benefits of paying the levies
  • Why companies should submit their workplace skills plan annually and how it ties in with their BBBEE scorecard and Employment Equity
  • How companies can claim back 50% of their SDL levies
  • How companies can access discretionary grant funding for additional training interventions
  • Who is eligible to have an Employment Equity plan in place and submit the relevant reports to DOL.
