NEWS from our Midlands Division

The Midlands region of the Association has seen the beginning of some big changes that will impact positively on the members. The first being the approval of funding for the training room which is now operational and the setting aside of funding for the promotion of training through subsidised training in this region.

Our first training course is to be a First Aid course facilitated by a local training provider from the 29 – 30 July 2009. The opening of the training room has created the opportunity for hiring out of the facilities for conferences and we are proud to state that even in the short period that this room has been available we have invoiced over R2000 worth of services. Though this is a small amount with the proper advertising over time this could become a helpful addition to other small incomes.

The Midlands Golf Challenge is set for the 23 July 2009 at the Victoria Country Club and we are planning for the biggest and best yet.

Our first membership lunch was held on Thursday 2 July 2009 and though facilities limited us to a small group, some interesting discussions were held and this promises to be successful with future lunches like this being held. With with new services coming on line members are showing more interest in the association and it is hoped that this will impact positively on various function attendance.

Signage bearing the new logo has given the Midlands office a new look and added with the conference facility we hope this to be a hive of activity very soon.

Safety Consulting in the region has becoming busier with various types of promotion and word of mouth from member to member and this is becoming a helpful tool for recruitment in this, with members qualifying for a massive discount and thus encouraging them to join the association.

Hope to see you soon!

Gareth Roberts
Midlands Divisional Manager
