Safety in English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Zulu and Sotho

SafeBuild Shoot

A project I was involved in, when I first joined the Association was the production of the SafeBuild DVD series.  We were of the belief that there was a great need for a visual guide to construction safety and at the time, the only products available were American based and hellishly expensive. It was also found that they weren’t practical as they did not relate well to South African construction methodology and conditions.

We went ahead and produced the SafeBuild DVD series which in essence is a step by step visual guide to Occupational Health and Safety Act. The product is endorsed by the Department of Labour and many of our members now use it for toolbox talks. There are 20 chapters in total and by utilising the menu options provided, it can easily be set to play whichever section is relevant at the time.

If you really want people to interpret the message properly; the best way to do so is to communicate it to them in their home language. The SafeBuild DVD series enables you to do that with five different language options in the set up menu, English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Zulu and Sotho.
