The Past Is Key to Understanding the Present

 Victoria Cafe 1901

“With the historian it is an article of faith that knowledge of the past is a key to understanding the present.” Kenneth Stampp

For our upcoming 2012 Durban/Midlands Golf Day we decided to create some hype around the spectacular Dulux Trophy and requested that Pieter Rautenbach provide some editorial that would highlight its illustrious history.  The article that ensued, stirred up a lot of interest and many have since commented, on its fascinating history.

As an Association, we have been around a long time and the world has, since our humble beginnings at the Victoria Cafe in 1901, progressed exponentially.  When recording our history on, we broke it down into the following eight sections:

Part 1: Birth of the Association 1901
Part 2: The Early Years
Part 3: Surviving Difficult Times
Part 4: Progress and Innovation
Part 5: Period of Consolidation
Part 6: The Impacts of War
Part 7: Post War - Renewed Optimism
Part 8: A New Era, a New Home

If you have any interest at all in history and have never visited these pages, you are indeed missing out. Of the 4000 plus web pages I have worked on, these are ones that I have found most captivating.
